In paying tribute to the RV industry’s centennial in 2010 RV Business set out to assemble a list of the “100 Most Influential People in the History of the RV Industry”. Here’s how they saw it: people who altered the direction — even slightly — of an entire industry by what they did or didn’t say over their careers, by the way they conducted themselves in commercial and association venues, by the examples and ethical standards they set, by the genius they displayed in inventing new products and services and, more than anything else, by the leadership they brought to the table. RV Business developed a draft roster of 100 people whose inventive natures, galvanizing personalities and hard-driving entrepreneurship generated tens of thousands of industry-related jobs and countless innovative OEM and aftermarket products. They launched thriving manufacturing plants, successful retail stores, elaborate distributorships, effective consultancies, professional trade associations and polished publishing houses plus a universe of amenity-filled campgrounds to accommodate the masses of RV enthusiasts whose leisure activates relied to varying degrees on their efforts.
